On 7th February 2024 a Grant Agreement was signed between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Beneficiary, for the joint financing of the “Schengen training of MFA” project.

The main objective of the project is the education and training of the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) working at the Centre, as well as the consular departments of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus (RoC) which are involved or will be involved in the process of examination and issuing of entry visas. The project is integrated within the context of the efforts made by the RoC to join the Schengen area, by fully complying with the Schengen acquis and by educating and training staff in charge of its implementation.

The project is implemented within the framework of the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI), through the joint financing of the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus.

The total budget of the project is €321,000. The implementation period is from 27/03/2023 to 26/12/2027.
