The Civil Registry and Migration Department in cooperation with the Council of Europe organizes a conference on the intercultural integration of migrants. The main topic of the conference is the project "Building structures for intercultural integration in Cyprus" which was implemented by the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Programme, in collaboration with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support and the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus.

The conference will reflect on what has been achieved over the last two years within the framework of the programme and discuss future steps. Representatives of the regional intercultural networks of Cyprus will present their activities, and there will be a presentation of the recent study visit to the intercultural cities of Barcelona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet, which will be followed by a panel discussion with the Mayors and Deputy Mayors who participated in the visit on the potential to adapt some of the integration practices seen in Spain to the Cypriot context.

The aim of the conference is to show how the conceptual, analytical and policymaking tools of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Programme will continue to support intercultural integration in Cyprus, through the implementation of the action plans and strategies of the five regional intercultural networks of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaka, Famagusta and Paphos.

The event will take place on Thursday 22/06/2023 in Leventis Gallery in Nicosia. Registration and welcome coffee starts at 9.00 a.m while the last session will be followed by a light lunch at 1.45 p.m. There will be interpretation in English/Greek.
