In case a citizen of the Republic wishes to invite an alien to Cyprus as his guest and a Visa is required for his entry into Cyprus he must contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Tel. 22401100). For more information those interested may visit the web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at www.mfa.gov.cy (Entry Regulations for Cyprus).

If there are reasons for extending the residence permit, an application on form M.61 is submitted, through the District Aliens and Immigration Branch of the Police, together with the following documents:

a) Copy of alien’s passport
b) Proof of means of support
c) Proof of accommodation
d) A Bank letter of guarantee CY£200-500, depending on the country of origin of the alien, to cover possible repatriation expenses valid for six months after the requested period of stay
e) Two Photographs
f) CY£20 (fees for submission of application)

Before the submission of the application the alien is registered at the District Aliens and Immigration Branch of the Police. For the said registration it is necessary the alien's passport, 1 photograph of his and fees of CY£20 should be produced.
