The European Commission publishes on 21 December 2023 a call for proposals for €30 million to support security and protection of public spaces.

This call is part of the activities foreseen in the Thematic Facility Work Programme 2023 – 2025 for Internal Security Fund.

This call will finance projects aimed at improving the overall security of public spaces with a focus on six different priorities: places of worship of all faiths, Jewish places of worship, CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) threats, firearms trafficking, explosive detection dogs and non-cooperative drones. Projects funded under these priorities will support the Commission in fulfilling the objectives of the 2017 Action Plan on the Protection of Public Spaces, the 2017 CBRN Action Plan, the 2020 EU Security Union Strategy, the 2020 Counter-terrorism Strategy, the 2021 Action Plan on Firearms trafficking, the 2021 EU strategy on combating antisemitism, the October 2023 EU counter-drone programme as well as the December 2023 Anti-hatred communication. In light of the surge of antisemitic incidents across the European Union following the unprecedented terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel in October 2023, the Commission decided to reserve EUR 5 million of the total budget exclusively for projects on the protection of Jewish places of worship.

Call requirements can be seen here as of 21 December 2023
Proposals may be submitted here as of 8 February 2024.

Apply before 4 April 2024.
