The Internal Security Fund (ISF) is one of the funding tools of the Home Affairs Funds.

The ISF was set up for the Programming Period 2014-2020, under the DG Home Affairs of the European Union and is divided into two main parts.

The first part deals with the targets regarding “Borders and Visas” and aims at supporting the efforts of Cyprus to prepare for integration to Schengen Area, to effectively manage the procedure of visas issuing, to ensure a safer surveillance of external borders.

The second part “Police Cooperation” aims at ensuring a more effective prevention and combating of cross-border organised crime, including drugs trafficking, human trafficking, terrorism and corruption, as well as the management of crises, enhancing at the same time the police cooperation between Member States.

For more information you may visit the European Commission’s website.

The objectives of the ISF, under the Regulation, (Borders and Visas Regulation and Police Cooperation Regulation) were at the forefront of the establishment of the national programme of the Republic of Cyprus.
