1. Overview
EU citizens are entitled to move to any EU county to live, work, study or retire.
You can stay in another EU country for up to 3 months without registering there, provided that you hold a valid national identity card or passport.

If you wish to stay in the new Member State for longer than 3 months, you may need to register with the appropriate authority.

In many EU countries, you will need to carry your identity card or passport with you at all times. It is a good idea to find out if you will need to carry your identity card or passport with you at all times before you leave for your new host country.

You are also advised to check with the appropriate authorities in the Member State you wish to stay in for more than 3 months before you leave for that country.
