| The President of the Republic presided over a meeting of the Informal Party Leaders' Council

The President of the Republic Mr Demetris Christofias presided yesterday over a meeting of the Informal Council of Party Leaders, who participate in the National Council.
After the meeting, the Government Spokesman Mr Stefanos Stefanou made the following statement:
“The Informal Council of Party Leaders, who participate in the National Council, convened today. The President of the Republic briefed the political party leaders on the current developments in the Cyprus problem and various other issues. The President of the Republic is expecting the views of the political parties, which will be submitted to the National Council that will convene soon". Asked if the President of the Republic requested the views of the parties in writing or orally, the Spokesman said: “This depends on the parties. Normally the parties submit their views in writing. Besides, these are important issues such as Turkey's EU accession course, in the light of the discussions and the deliberations that the Governments of Greece and Cyprus had during the recent visit of the Greek Prime Minister here. The President of the Republic has requested the views of the parties and it is expected that these views will be discussed at the National Council”. |
