| Premier Papandreou and President Obama discuss Cyprus problem

The Cyprus problem was among the issues discussed during a meeting yesterday at the White House between US President Barack Obama and Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, who is currently visiting the United States.
Speaking after the meeting, Premier Papandreou said he assured of his support to President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias for a just solution of the Cyprus problem and pointed out the need to send out a message to Turkey urging it to show decisive will for a settlement, always within the European framework of principles.
He also referred to Greek initiatives to upgrade relations with Turkey in order to resolve bilateral problems. |
