European Funds Unit

On 27 June 2024, the Grant Agreement was signed between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior, as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds, and the International Organisation “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Centre, as the Beneficiary for the implementation of the project titled “Reception Centre for Unaccompanied Minors who are Third-Country Nationals”, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus.

The abovementioned project – which has been implemented for many years – relates to the operation and management of a reception centre for at least 45 unaccompanied minors who are third-country nationals – specifically boys aged 13 to 18 years – with the aim to provide accommodation, protection, as well as various services and goods, adapted to these children’s needs.

The Centre hosts unaccompanied minors who are referred to by the State Social Welfare Services, and provides board and services to meet their basic needs. Through a personalised and holistic approach, support and rehabilitation services are provided, as well as access to educational activities, based on the minor children’s needs. The services also include social, psychological and legal support, and courses and workshops with the aim to develop their social skills and social integration. The Centre is established at a location to provide an effective geographical access to relevant services for the residents, thus assisting their daily needs and interaction with the local society.

The project is implemented within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and it is co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Cyprus, with a total budget of €1,299,947.82.

Project implementation period: 01/07/2024-30/06/2027
