During the preparation and/or review of the Local Plans or the Policy Statement reviewing and/or extending planning zones within the Local Plans or Policy Statement under preparation or review, the Planning & Housing Department which is the competent department for the reparation of the Local Plans and the Policy Statement shall ask for the assistance of the Water Development Department (WDD) as regards the designation of water stream protection zones for their inclusion in the planning zones.
In accordance with the provisions of the Protection and Management of Water Laws of 2004 to 2012 (European Directive 2000/60/EC) and the Integrated Water Management laws of 2010 to 2012, the WDD reviewed and updated its policy on the protection of water streams and determined:
