The Department is staffed with scientific and technical staff having a wide scientific and vocational training.
The scientific staff of the Department is composed of civil engineers, topographic engineers, hydrologists, geologists, health engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, chemists and biologists. The technical staff of the Department is composed of technician mechanics and technicians of the relevant specialities as well as of the information technology section.
The Department also employs a great number of hourly paid staff of various specialities, engaged in the fields of construction, water measurement and the operation and maintenance of waterworks. The tasks of the Department are supported by staff from the General Secretarial Staff and also from the General Treasury of the State.
From time to time and in order to ensure it obtains services to carry out its tasks, the Department also employs specialists on a contract basis or it assigns specific tasks to consulting engineers of the private sector.
