Residence
After the arrival in the Republic, within 7 days, the third country national is required to register in the Aliens’ Register and obtain a temporary residence permit, by submitting an application and the corresponding fees and additional information.

Submission of Applications
  • Applications can be submitted at the application submission offices. To find out whether an appointment is needed follow this link.
  • The application should be accompanied by the necessary supporting documents. All supporting documents submitted in the context of applications must be officially translated and duly certified.
  • For the submission of the application, the necessary fees must be submitted, as listed below.
  • In order to apply for a temporary residence permit, it is necessary the third country national to provide their biometric data (photo and fingerprints) and signature, with the presentation of the payment receipt and a valid travel document. The collection of biometric data is also necessary for the renewal of a temporary residence permit.
  • In case of approval of the application, a notice of collection of the residence permit is sent.
  • In case of rejection, a letter is sent with the reasons for the rejection.
Fees
  • Application for issuance of an entry permit and a residence permit: €70
  • Application for issuance or renewal of a residence permit: €55
  • Registration in the Aliens’ Register (only in cases of first registration): €70
Application examination time
Applications for issuance of an entry permit for students shall be examined within one month, provided that they are duly completed. This time limit shall not apply if the information or documents submitted in the applications are insufficient and in such a case the examination time is increased. These applications are examined by two Authorities, the Migration Department and the Ministry of Education of Cyprus.

Applications for an issuance of a residence permit for students shall be examined within 3 months, provided that they are duly completed.  

Residence permit duration
The duration of the permit can be up to one year and is renewable every year by submitting an application until the program of studies followed by the student is completed, provided that the third-country national still meets the requirements of the legislation for renewing his residence permit.

Among other provisions, it is examined whether the student is making sufficient progress in the relevant studies in accordance with the terms and conditions of the legislation.
