The Accommodation Center “Limnes” is located in the community of Menogeia, in the province of Larnaca.
It first operated in November 2021. It is a Hospitality Center for applicants for international protection, to which applicants coming from safe countries of origin who are released from the KePY “Pournara”, after they have received the primary decision of the Asylum Service on their application for international protection, are referred.
At the Center, individuals who are in the process of voluntary repatriation are also referred. The KeF “Limnes” is of an open type and its residents are entitled to free movement both outside and inside it.
Various services are provided to the residents at the Center, such as catering, guarding, service, social and psychological support and care, medical services, education, social activities, and others.
The Center is in the process of upgrading for which a relevant competition has been announced by the Department of Public Works.
The competition has been awarded and the works have started in July 2023 and the whole project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 with a capacity of up to 1000 beds. The upgrading project is co-financed by the EU.
Both the residents of “Limnes” Accommodation Center and its staff have been temporarily relocated to the facilities of the Kofinou Reception and Accomodation Center for Applicants for International Protection, in a specially designed space, until the completion of the aforementioned Project.
