European Funds Unit

Monitoring Committees are an important institution for monitoring the implementation of National Programmes under the Home Affairs Funds 2014-2020.

Their formation and operation play an important role in the correct implementation of the National Programmes and, therefore, in the impact they will have on social cohesion, welfare and prosperity of the society. This is mainly achieved due to the contribution of government bodies and stakeholders involved.

Under Article 12 (4) of Regulation (EU) No 514/2014, the Monitoring Committee is set up to support the implementation of national programmes of the funds. Moreover, under Article 4 (b) and Chapter 4 (Α) (1)(a) of the Annex of the Delegate Regulation (EU) No 1042/2014, the Responsible Authority of the Fund, i.e. the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior appointed for Cyprus, must ensure the proper functioning of each Monitoring Committee.

There are two Monitoring Committees one for each Fund:

- Monitoring Committee for the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund
- Monitoring Committee for the Internal Security Fund

Each Monitoring Committee has its own Rules of Procedure approved during the 1st meeting of the Committees, on 27 May 2017. The Rules of Procedure, by Decision of the Minister of Interior dated 27 April 2016, set out the members of its Committee (see article 4 of the Rules of Procedure).
