The European Funds Unit represents the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior as a member of the Monitoring Committee of the programmes under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area (ΕΕΑ) Financial Mechanism.

The Directorate General for European Programmes, Coordination and Development, has been designated as the National Contact Point for the implementation of Programs under the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms, in accordance with the Regulations for the Implementation of EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms 2004-2009 and 2009-2014, accordingly.
