Head of the Asylum Service

Andreas Georgiades assumed the duties of Head of the Asylum Service in February 2024.

He worked in the Asylum Service from September 2006 and dealt with all issues related to asylum procedures and reception, such as examination of asylum applications, provision of reception conditions, while he served as coordinator of the Asylum Service from 2018 to 2022.

He participated in a number of training programs of the EUAA, the UNHCR and other Organizations, which concern the examination of applications for international protection, reception of applicants for international protection, handling of cases of torture victims, etc., within the framework of the asylum process. From March 2023 and for almost a year he served as Advisor to the Minister of Interior on Migration and Asylum issues. At the same time, he was responsible for the implementation of the New Immigration policy announced by the new President of the Republic of Cyprus.
