The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and Cyprus signed the extension of the Special Support Plan, which was originally signed in Luxembourg on 5 June 2014 by the Executive Director of EASO and the Minister of Interior of Cyprus.
The Support Plan included specific priority areas, such as the training of staff, the identification of vulnerable persons, and the provision of expertise concerning age assessment procedures, the improvement of reception conditions and the collection and analysis of statistical data.
On 1st July 2015, the first extension of the Plan was signed (until February 2016), according to which, the initial activities included in the Plan remained, while other thematic areas were added, such as, the strengthening of existing procedures in the areas of guardianship of unaccompanied minors, of identification of vulnerable groups, as well as, trainings in matters relating to asylum procedure and reception.
Following the signing of the second extension of the Special Support Plan, the provision of technical and operational support to Cyprus by EASO at the above-mentioned areas of priority, will continue until February 2017.
